The Cubs blanked the Cardinals 2-0 in the double header opener yesterday, ending St. Louis’ season-best eight-game winning streak.

But in the evening game, the Cardinals broke it open when Nolan Arenado and Tyler O’Neill homered in a five-run fourth inning. Corey Dickerson had four hits and the St. Louis Cardinals pounded the Chicago Cubs 13-3.

The ninth inning was almost a rout as the Cards Dylan Carlson had a two-run triple and St. Louis made six more runs.

Javier Assad pitched four scoreless innings in his major league debut.

Tonight St. Louis is at Chicago at 7:05pm – Miles Mikolas will open for the Cards vs Luke Farrell for the Cubs.

Christian Walker had three hits, including a run-scoring double, to lead the Arizona Diamondbacks to a 7-3 win over the Kansas City Royals last night. The game also got exciting late with a three run 8th inning, two for the Royals, but they were unable to catch Arizona. Royals starter Jonathan Heasley seemed to become ill, vomiting twice behind the mound before being relieved in the fifth.

Kansas City is hosting Arizona at 7:10pm – the Diamondbacks’ Zac Gallen vs Royals’ Brady Singer.

Three Mizzou football student-athletes have earned preseason All-Southeastern Conference honors.

A Preseason All-American, Harrison Mevis earned a spot on the first team. Tackle Javon Foster was named to the second team and a third-team honoree is defensive back Kris Abrams-Draine.
