KWWR Sports Report 12/9/21

Community R-VI boys basketball team picked up a win at home Tuesday night against Madison.

The 61-28 win puts R-VI at 3-1 on the season.

Leading scorers were Madison Carrol with 25, Gavin Allen with 8, Tucker Robnett with 7, Case Stafford had 6, Logan Johnson with 5, Chase Dobbins put up 4, Mason Rohan had 3 and Brant Cope contributed 2 points.

The North Callaway lady Thunderbirds fall to 2-3 on the season following their 30-28 loss last night (Wednesday) to Harrisburg at the Centralia Tournament.

Harrisburg improves to 3-1 on the season with that win.

Next up for the Lady Thunderbirds in Van-Far Tuesday night.

The St. Louis Blues will have extra help tonight as they host Detroit at the Enterprise Center. Yesterday they recalled forward Nathan Walker from their AHL affiliate, the Springfield Thunderbirds under emergency conditions. They also signed goaltender Jon Gillies to a one-year, two-way contract. He is 3-1-0 this season with a 1.76 goals against average and a .939 save percentage. Puck drops tonight at 7pm.

In Thursday night football action on Fox, it’s the 6-5-1 Steelers traveling to Minneapolis to take on the 5-7 Vikings who are 2nd in the NFC North.

Kickoff is set for 7:20pm.
