Benton City Man Injured in Two Car Accident on East Liberty in Mexico

A Benton City man has injuries after a 2 car accident in Mexico this morning (Thursday).

According to Mexico Public Safety it happened just before 5 in the 4600 block of East Liberty.

A vehicle driven by 40 year old Thomas M. Swaim of Benton City, was traveling westbound when it collided with the back of a 2007 International semi being driven by 55 year old Selim Farahat of New Jersey.

The semi was also traveling westbound, but at a lower speed.

Public Safety used extrication equipment to remove Swaim from his vehicle.

Audrain County Ambulance District transported Swaim to University Hospital.

Traffic was diverted through a residential area for about one hour until East Liberty was cleared.
