Loud Noise Heard Friday Afternoon Identified
A loud noise heard across several counties in the listening area yesterday (Friday) is being identified as a sonic a boom.
According to Boeing the sonic boom was likely the result of a speed run operated by a USAF air crew, operating a normal production delivery test flight of an F-15.
The aircraft was flying at an altitude of about 40,000 feet.
In Mexico Public Safety Chief Susan Rockett said she was able to hear the noise in the basement of City Hall, and a listener in Auxvasse reported the boom rattled the windows of her house.
The boom was heard just before 1pm.
