Judge Rules Against Petition For Former Columbia Police Officer To Get His Job Back
A ruling is now handed down rejecting a petition from former Columbia police officer Rob Sanders to get his job back.
The judgement was made Monday in a Boone County Courthouse.
Sanders had been trying to regain employment with the department after former Chief Ken Burton fired him in 2011.
The firing came after a video showed Sanders shoving an inmate in a jail cell.
Burton said Sanders used excessive force, while Sanders claimed he followed his training.
An internal investigation later cleared Sanders and a jury acquitted him after a trial for misdemeanor assault.
