Judge Says Coroner Violated Sunshine Laws

A Howard County Judge issued a partial summary judgement alleging the Howard County Coroner violated the Sunshine Law in regards to the death of Kenneth Suttner.

The judgement says the coroner “wrongully denied access to open public records” to the Glasgow School District.

The school district filed a lawsuit in March of 2017 requesting the records from an inquest into Suttner’s death. The inquest revealed the suicide was caused by harassment at work and school.

Attorney’s for the coroners office will be filing an appeal.
