Governor Eric Greitens is requesting to waive a jury trial citing “constant negative publicity.”
Greitens’ defense team alleges the publicity will prevent the governor from receiving a fair trial.
Greitens was charged in February on a single charge of invasion of privacy. He is accused of photographing his mistress in a state of nudity without her knowledge or consent.
A Missouri House Investigative Committee released a report on April with details of the alleged crime.
Lawmakers signed a petition to enter into a special session on May 18 to consider impeachment.
