Mexico Public Safety arrested a St. Louis man accused of driving while intoxicated and leaving the scene of an accident on Saturday.

Officers responded at 9:35 PM to the area of Monroe and Western in reference to a maroon, 1997 Chevrolet minivan swerving in the roadway, nearly striking other vehicles.

When officers arrived 3 minutes later, it was determined the vehicle had driven into a yard at the intersection of Muldrow and Boulevard, then left the scene.

Once police stopped the car, 29 year old Karl Franks was found to allegedly be intoxicated.

He was processed at public safety and taken to the Audrain County Jail to post bond.

No injuries were reported.
