Callaway County Deputies Arrest Burglary Suspect Accused of Stealing Firearms From His Neighbor

The following press release is from the Callaway County Sheriff’s Office.

On January 25, 2025, deputies responded to a reported burglary at a residence on County Road 219, just outside of Fulton.

The homeowner reported that numerous firearms, firearm parts, and reloading equipment – valued at over $2,500 – had been stolen.

During the investigation, deputies linked the burglary to Joseph Underwood, who had been previously arrested by the Fulton Police Department on January 19, 2025, for unlawful possession of a firearm, tampering with physical evidence, and resisting arrest.

Following further investigation, it was determined that one of the firearms Underwood possessed during his January 19 arrest was among those stolen in the burglary.

On February 4, 2025, the Callaway County Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant at a residence on County Road 410 outside of Fulton in connection with the investigation.

The following day, deputies recovered approximately $2,000 worth of stolen property, including three additional firearms.

On February 6, 2025, Underwood was interviewed by investigators and subsequently arrested for his involvement in the burglary.

For reference Underwood is the neighbor of the victim.

On February 7, 2025, the Callaway County Prosecuting Attorney formally charged Underwood with Burglary in the First Degree, Stealing Over $750, and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm. A judge denied bond, and Underwood remains in the custody of the Callaway County Sheriff’s Office.
