Traffic Stop in Montgomery County Leads to Arrest of Mexico Woman and Wellsville Man
The following is a press release from the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Department.
On February 11, 2025, deputies conducted a traffic stop on Cemetery Road, north of Appling School Road, on a blue Ford vehicle that failed to signal, failed to dim headlights, and was displaying license plates of another vehicle.
During the traffic stop and after further investigation:
The driver, a 37-year-old man from Wellsville, was found to be in possession of Klonopin, a schedule four controlled substance and other paraphernalia.
This individual is currently on probation/parole for multiple offenses, including domestic assault and endangering the welfare of a child.
The front seat passenger, a 19-year-old woman from Mexico, Missouri, was found to be in possession of Methamphetamine and Fentanyl, along with a glass meth pipe and other drug paraphernalia.
This individual advised deputies she was recently arrested, in December of 2024, for possession of Fentanyl.
The rear seat passenger, a 21-year-old woman from Mexico, Missouri, was observed reaching into her clothing during the stop. Deputies, post Miranda, confronted her about hiding illegal narcotics on her person.
She reached into her clothing and produced an Advil bottle that contained Fentanyl.
The driver and both passengers were arrested, transported to the MC Jail, and they will be facing various charges related to Possession of Controlled Substances and Drug Paraphernalia.
These arrests are part of ongoing efforts to address drug-related offenses within our county, especially concerning the presence of Fentanyl, which poses a significant danger to public health and safety.
