Woman Speeding Past Fully Marked Callaway County Sheriff’s Office K9 Unit Arrested for Over 1.5 Pounds of Methamphetamine
The Callaway County Sheriff’s Office provided the following news release:
On September 22, 2023, at approximately 12:47 AM, a Callaway County Sheriff’s Office K9 unit was conducting a patrol on the westbound lanes of I-70 near mile marker 138. The fully marked K9 patrol vehicle was overtaken by a passenger car traveling at a high rate of speed. The car not only exceeded the speed limit but also swerved into the driving lane and crossed the fog line.
Upon conducting a traffic stop, deputies deployed K9 Tajfun to conduct a narcotics sniff. K9 Tajfun promptly alerted to the presence of narcotics inside the vehicle.
During a search of the vehicle deputies recovered approximately 24 grams of methamphetamine in the center console, along with a glass smoking pipe with crystal residue inside and a digital scale with methamphetamine residue on it.
Additionally other plastic bags were located that contained approximately 229 and 471 grams of methamphetamine inside.
In total, 724 grams, or over 1.5 pounds, of methamphetamine were recovered during the search. To put this into perspective, 724 grams of methamphetamine significantly surpasses the average ‘user amount’ of 0.5 – 1 gram.
Furthermore, controlled substances in the form of Amphetamine/dextroamphetamine pills were also discovered.
The driver of the vehicle, identified as 50 year old Lori Williams of Columbia Missouri, was arrested.
Later in the day the Callaway County Prosecutor’s Office charged Williams with the following offenses and a Judge denied bond:
- Trafficking Drugs – 2nd Degree – Over Statutory Amount
- Possession of a Controlled Substance
- Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
- Fail to Drive Within Right Lane of Highway With 2 or More Lanes in Same Direction
