I-70 Lanes Back Open at Rocheport Bridge Following Hours Long Closure and Multi-Vehicle Crash

The eastbound and westbound lanes of I-70 on the Rocheport bridge in Boone County are back open after a multi-vehicle crash happened yesterday (Tuesday).

The crash in the westbound lanes was first reported just after 10am Tuesday morning, and lanes reopened around 3:45 yesterday afternoon (Tuesday).

Traffic was backed up to the 128 mile marker in the westbound lanes and to the 108 mile marker in the eastbound lanes.

Six vehicles were traveling west on I-70 over the Missouri River Bridge when one unknown vehicle swerved and hit the brakes suddenly, causing a chain reaction crash.

One semi was full of cattle, and according to the Cooper County Fire Chief at least one, possibly up to three cows jumped over the bridge and a veterinarian was dispatched to the scene.
