Community R-VI Teacher Seriously Injured In Audrain County Accident Opens Her Eyes

A Laddonia woman who was taken by survival flight with serious injuries following a vehicle accident in Audrain County last week remains in the hospital.

47-year-old Caryn Atkinson is a teacher with the Community R-VI School District and was a passenger in the vehicle and was taken to the University Hospital with head trauma.

She opened her eyes yesterday (Tuesday) and today (Wednesday), however remains unresponsive and still has a long road to recovery according to her husband Chris Atkinson.

He says that after Caryn is released rom the hospital she will go to Rusk Rehab to continue her recovery.

Chris is the assistant coach for the Mexico Bulldogs baseball team and says he appreciates the support from the community and continued prayers for his family.

Samuel Atkinson the son of Chris and Caryn was also injured in the car accident, however has been treated and released from the hospital.

On Saturday, April 22 at 11am at the Laddonia Park All In For Atkinson will be taking place where raffle items, with a lunch will be available for some fundraising to help with the families expenses.
