University of Missouri men’s basketball earned its second-straight win in SEC play, topping Vanderbilt, 75-66, in front of a sold-out crowd at Mizzou Arena Saturday afternoon.

The Tigers improve to 13-3 on the year and 2-1 versus league foes, while the Commodores, who are receiving votes in both national polls, fall to 13-3 and 1-1 in SEC action.

Game Leaders

Junior Mark Mitchell (Kansas City, Kansas) led the Tigers with 19 points – sinking 6-of-11 from the field and 7-of9 from the free-throw line – while also tallying seven boards.

Sophomore Anthony Robinson II (Tallahassee, Florida) chipped in 15 points and added a career-best eight assists to go with three steals for MU.

Graduate Caleb Grill (Wichita, Kansas) rounded out the Tigers in double figures with 13 points off the bench.

Graduate Josh Gray (Brooklyn, New York) anchored the Mizzou defense with a season-best 11 rebounds.

Game Recap

Mizzou led wire-to-wire as the hosts rode a hot start en route to the win. The Tigers sunk their first four 3-pointers of the game to quickly race to a 14-2 lead.

The schools would then trade a couple of runs of the rest of the half. A 10-0 spurt gave Mizzou a game-high 17-point lead, 39-22, before the Commodores finished the period with a 7-0 run of their own as the Tigers headed into the locker room with a nine-point lead, 41-32.

The Tigers maintained their lead early before Vanderbilt made its final push.

The visitors used a 9-0 run to pull within three, 49-46, with 12:44 remaining.

Tamar Bates and Grill would answer with back-to back- triples to quickly put the Tigers back up by nine only for a later 8-0 run by Vanderbilt allowed the Commodores to pull within a single point, 61-60.

Bates ended the run with a transition dunk for a 63-60 lead with 4:50 left in regulation.

After Vanderbilt cut the deficit back to two, 68-66, Grill then drew a foul during a 3-point attempt, igniting a 7-0 run to finish the game for the 75-66 victory.

Team Stats

Mizzou shot 49.0 percent in the winning effort, including 10-of-24 from 3-point range (41.7 percent). The Tigers also held the Commodores to 40.4 percent shooting and just 33.3 percent in the second half.

University of Missouri women’s basketball returns to Mizzou Arena to face Florida at 2pm on Sunday following two consecutive road contests.

Missouri (11-7, 0-3 SEC) is coming off a loss at Georgia on Thursday.

Junior guard Ashton Judd led Missouri with 22 points and a career-best five assists against the Bulldogs.

Judd has averaged 14.2 points and 5.2 rebounds in the last 10 games after averaging 7.5 and 4.4 in the season’s first eight contests.

Graduate forward Angelique Ngalakulondi and senior forward Laniah Randle each recorded double-doubles on Thursday which marked the first time two Tigers have done so in the same game since December 6, 2023 against Missouri State.

Ngalakulondi has averaged 12 points and nine rebounds over the last two games.

Grace Slaughter ranks fifth in the conference in free thro percentage at 85.5 and seventh with 3.4 makes per game.

Slaughter is also third in the country in 3-point percentage (50.0) among athletes who average 1.5+ makes per game this season.

Sophomore guard Abbey Schreacke is second in the Southeastern Conference and is tied for 16th nationally with 44 3-pointers this season.

Schreacke also ranks sixth in the SEC in 3-point percentage (4.0).

As a team, the Tigers lead the SEC and are seventh nationally in 3-point percentage at 38.76 percent.

Redshirt sophomore Averi Kroenke ranks fourth in the SEC and 15th in the country with a 2.95 assist-to-turnover ratio.

Sunday will mark the 17th overall meeting between the conference foes with Missouri leading the all-time series 11-5 including a 5-2 mark in Mizzou Arena.

Florida enters Sunday at 10-7 and 1-2 in conference play following a loss to Kentucky on Thursday.

The Gators are coached by Kelly Rae Finley who is in her fourth year with the program and has amassed a 66-49 record.

Florida is led by freshman guard Liv McGill and senior center Ra Shaya Kule who average 15.8 points and 15.2 points, respectively.

The Gators have four players that average 10 or more points per game.

In the NFL Playoffs on 1/11/2025, the Baltimore Ravens doubled up Pittsburgh 28-14.

The Houston Texans dominated the Los Angeles Charges 32-12.
