Fulton Police Releases Names of Victim and Suspect in Deadly Assault at Fulton State Hospital
The victim of a deadly assault at the Fulton State Hospital has been identified as 53-year-old Christos Karagiannis by the Fulton Police Department.
A patient at the Fulton State Hospital has been detained on charges of first-degree murder and fourth-degree assault.
Fulton police say 29-year-old Jabril Kanatzar is being held without bond in a secure facility.
Kanatzar allegedly assaulted Karagiannis, just before 6pm on Monday, January 6, 2025.
Karagiannis died from injuries sustained in the attack on Wednesday after he was taken off life support according to police.
Fulton police were notified of the attack on Tuesday afternoon.
According to the news release a second victim apparently received injuries, and police say Kanatzar will be charged with fourth-degree assault in connection with the second victim.
