Several People Injured in Two Separate Vehicle Accidents in Mexico Over the Weekend

Mexico Public Safety responded to two separate car accidents that left several people with injuries over the weekend.

The first accident Saturday, December 29th just before 6pm at 420 West Monroe.

According to the Mexico Public Safety accident report it happened when a vehicle driven by 27-year-old Zhane Cross-Williams of Columbia, Missouri attempted to turn into Breaktime and was struck by a vehicle driven by 47-year-old Timothy Burnett of Mexico.

Passengers from both vehicles, 45-year-old Amanda Burnett and a 5-year-old juvenile were taken by EMS to seek medical treatment.

Both vehicles were towed from the scene.

A second accident happened at 1722 Huntingfield during the evening hours of Sunday, December 19, 2024.

According to the Mexico Public Safety report it happened just before 6pm when a vehicle driven by 75-year-old Mary Burditt of Naples, Florida turned south onto Huntingfield from a private drive and crashed into a vehicle driven by 48-year-old Elmer Thessler of Mexico.

According to the accident report, Thessler sustained an injury to his right leg and abrasions to the right side of his face and forehead.

Thessler was taken to MU Hospital for treatment.

No injuries were reported to Burditt of the passenger in her vehicle.
