KWWR Sports Report 11/05/2024
The Missouri Tigers men’s basketball team lost their season opener 83 – 75 on the road against Memphis on Monday, November 4, 2024.
Memphis used a strong second half to overcome a 10-point deficit at the break.
In his first career start for Mizzou, sophomore Anthony Robinson II, responded with a career best 16 points and seven assists.
Three additional Tigers also scored in double figures in the opener-sophomore Trent Pierce, also tallied a career-best 13 points, while senior Tamar Bates and junior Aidan Shaw added 13 and 11 points respectively.
Up next the Tigers host Howard at Mizzou Arena for their home opener on Friday night.
University of Missouri women’s basketball dropped its season opener to Vermont 62 – 46.
Sophomore guard Grace Slaughter led the way for the Tigers with 16 points and three rebounds, going eight for eight from the free throw line.
Up next Missouri will welcome Southern University to Mizzou Arena on Thursday for the home opener.
The Kansas City Chiefs defeated the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 30 – 24 in overtime on Monday Night Football.
Patrick Mahomes threw for 291 yards and three touchdowns, whole DeAndre Hopkins had two touchdown receptions to push the Chiefs record to a perfect 8 – 0.
The Chiefs remained the only unbeaten team in the NFL.
Kansas City hosts the Denver Broncos this Sunday with a noon kickoff.
