City of Mexico to Receive Highest Honor In The Arts From Missouri Arts Council
The City of Mexico will be honored by the Missouri Arts Council during a ceremony in February.
Lt. Governor Mike Kehoe’s office announced yesterday (Thursday) that the City of Mexico is the recipient of the 2025 Creative Community award.
According to the press release Mexico has an abundance of vibrant and varied opportunities for all ages.
Presser Arts Center is a hub for performing arts and educational opportunities.
The Missouri Military Academy offers a number of arts each year, including the annual Jazz on the Lake event.
Mexico is home to art studios and shops, historic sites and museums, and festivals, including Walk Back in Time.
Many of their programs are largely produced by volunteers, strengthening the community’s personal connection with the arts.
Since 1983, the Missouri Arts Awards have recognized 255 people, organizations, and communities throughout the state for their significant contributions to Missouri’s artistic and cultural legacy.
An independent panel of Missourians representing the statewide arts community selected the honorees from public nominations.
The 2025 Missouri Arts Awards will be presented at the Missouri State Capitol on February 5, 2025. The ceremony is open to the public.
