The Mexico Lady Bulldogs Softball lost 3-2 to the Marshall Owls on the road in their regular season opener on Tuesday, September 3, 2024.

Hannah Loyd and Alyssa Miller each had an RBI for Mexico.

Aleigha Henderson pitched in relief and recorded three strikeouts and allowed no runs in 4 innings of work.

Mexico will play their home opener against Bowling Green on Wednesday, September 4, 2024.

Mexico girls tennis opened the season up at home with a 5-4 victory against Marshall on Tuesday, September 3, 2024.

Mexico head coach Kim Costley says “It was a great start to our conference season as we came out on top of a very close match. We return only two players from last year, so we have a lot of new players to varsity competition and singles play. We are using every match as a learning opportunity.”

Claire Hudson, Baylea Porter, Yolitza Rodriguez-Rios and Reiley Walker picked up varsity singles victories.

Lucy Gleeson and Claire Hudson were victorious in varsity doubles.

The St. Louis Cardinals defeated the Milwaukee Brewers 7-4 in 12 innings at American Family Field on Tuesday, September 3, 2024.

Cardinals Center fielder Michael Siani was playing just his second game since being activated from an injury.

Siani delivered a two-run single in the 12th that helped the Cardinals outlast the Brewers.

Paul Goldschmidt recorded three hits in the game including a home run that tied him with Joe DiMaggio for 86th on the all time home run list in Major League Baseball history.

The Kansas City Royals lost 7-1 to the Cleveland Guardians at the K.

The Royals suffered their seventh consecutive loss which dropped them to 5 1/2 games behind the first-place Guardians in the American League Central, although they have not lost any ground on their 4 1/2 game lead in the Wild Card race with Boston’s loss on Tuesday, September 3, 2024.
