Suspicious Activity in Mexico Leads to Stolen Vehicle Pursuit
An investigation is continuing after suspicious activity was reported in Mexico during the early morning hours of Friday, March 22, 2024.
According to a press release sent out from Mexico Public Safety, an alert resident reported the suspicious activity in the south-central part of Mexico just before 3am Friday morning.
Responding officers found and attempted to detain five to seven people dressed in dark clothing seen running in the area.
The suspects escaped and a short time later, officers observed a white Toyota Camry leaving the area and exiting Mexico on Route FF.
The Audrain County Sheriff’s Office and Missouri State Highway Patrol were notified and a deputy saw the Camry on Missouri Highway 22 between Mexico and Centralia.
The Camry had been reported stolen from Columbia on March 17th.
A pursuit went into Boone County before the Camry was abandoned and the suspects fled on foot.
The Centralia Police Department and Boone County Sheriff’s Office assisted as law enforcement attempted to locate the suspects.
No one has been found at this time.
