Large Animal Rescue Training Seems to be a Necessity

Recent large animal rescue training for the Boone County Fire Protection District and the MU College of Veterinary Medicine is paying off big time.

Yesterday, on Highway 63 and Discovery Parkway, a seriously injured cow needed help after the floor of the cattle trailer failed leaving her hanging partially through it.

Rescuers moved 13 cows to a new trailer before being able to get the injured cow to a vet in Owensville.

On Monday, a cow stuck chest-deep in mud and water in a Boone County pond was rescued after being trapped for roughly 12 hours by the same organizations.
