Javon Foster was voted a captain Tuesday in his fifth year for Missouri.

The Reese’s Senior Bowl named seven Mizzou players to their watch list. Linemen DJ Coleman. Trajan Jeffcoat, Darius Robinson and Isaiah McGuire and defensive back Martez Manuel were named along with running back Nathaniel Peat and lineman Javon Foster.

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback and broadcaster Len Dawson has died. The MVP of Super Bowl 4, and Pro Football Hall of Famer, started his NFL career with the Pittsburgh Steelers, then for Cleveland, before joining the Dallas Texans of the AFL in 1962. That franchise became the Chiefs. Dawson was 87.

Despite Nootbaar’s homer, the Chicago Cubs beat the St. Louis Cardinals 7-1 last night, pushed ahead when Zach McKinstry homered and drove in three runs.

Chicago and St. Louis split the first four games of the series which ends this afternoon. St. Louis is in Chicago for the last game of the 5 game series with the Cubs at 1:20. Dakota Hudson opens for the Cardinals against Marcus Stroman for Chicago.

A five run romp in the seventh inning by Kansas City included a homer by Bobby Witt Jr. taking Brady Singer and the Royals to top the Arizona Diamondbacks 5-3.

The Royals have the day off.
