MODOT Holds Meeting on I-70 Bridge at Rocheport

Missouri Department of Transportation engineers are telling the public that the bridge span for the I-70 bridge at Rocehport is in poor condition.

The first of many informational meetings about the bridge took place yesterday (Thursday) at the Les Bourgeois Winery in Rocheport.

MODOT representatives say the bridge needs a new driving surface, rehabilitation work, painting, sub-structure repairs and expansion joint replacement.

The repairs are said to be a short term fix and would reduce traffic flow to one lane in each direction for 7 to 9 months.

The other option would be a grant from the federal government to finance a new bridge.

Construction is expected to begin next spring.

The next meeting is scheduled for July 24th at 3:30 at the Boone County Government Center in Columbia.
